What You Need to Know Before Buying Diamond

The purchase of diamonds is increasing day by day. Today, diamonds have become the most attractive natural thing. Women are so fascinated by diamonds, and now jewellers are showing more diamond jewellery to attract more customers. However, there are certain things you need to know before buying diamonds or diamond jewellery.

Start with Four Cs of Diamonds

The first step when not even choosing a diamond ring is to be familiar with the language of diamonds. It includes four Cs representing cut, colour, clarity and carat. These are the four most important factors that can help you determine the value of a diamond

Cut:

Of the four Cs, cuts are considered the most important. It defines how shiny the diamond is. Compared with a well-cut diamond, a poorly cut diamond will become dull and shiny. Also, certain cuts such as marquise or princess can make the diamond look larger than it actually is.

Colour:

The second C colour is defined according to grades D to Z. Colourless diamonds of grade D are the most expensive of all grades. When you go from D to Z, the price of diamonds will drop.

Clarity:

Next is clarity. The factor that determines the clarity of a diamond is the tiny flaws or imperfections in the diamond. These defects are called inclusions. The clarity of a diamond decreases as the number of inclusions increases. The higher the clarity, the better the diamond. Diamonds with the highest clarity are called Flawless (FL) diamonds.

Carat:

The last C of the four is the carat. Carat is the term that defines the weight of a diamond. The larger the stone, the greater the carat number of the diamond. The price of diamonds also increases as the value of the carat increases. However, keep in mind that the price of two gems of the same carat value may vary, depending on the other three Cs.

Diamond or cubic zirconia.

Real diamonds have strong substitutes, often called cubic zirconia. Cubic zirconia is widely used to replace real diamonds to reduce jewellery costs. It is cheaper than real diamonds; untrained eyes will not differentiate real diamonds and CZ. The two substances look similar, but they are not... Real diamonds always shine because CZ can reduce their luminescence for a long time. If you are looking for cheap diamond jewellery, then CZ is your best choice, but if you buy real diamonds, the price will be very expensive and it will always satisfy you.

Diamond Shape

People are more familiar with round-shape diamonds, but there are many diamond shapes like oval, marquise, pear ,heart, trillion, princess, brilliant, emerald, cushion, Asscher, baguette available on the market.

Before buying any diamonds, please make sure you have obtained the International Gemological Institute or GIA certification, and you should check the buy-back policy on a  written and properly sealed documents.

Buy a diamond  from a well-known jeweller or online retailer

With the continuous development of online jewellery business,  diamonds can be easily purchased at any time. You don't have many choices and you can enjoy huge discounts. However, this boom is also the cause of impostors in the market. Diamonds can only be purchased online or offline from well-known jewellers. Don't be attracted just because of discounts.
