Four Secrets To Keep Your Diamond Sparkling

Buying diamond jewellery is an easy task. Whether it is an engagement ring or a gift to a loved one. The real challenge is to take care of the diamond so that it will shine in the next few years. After all, diamonds will always exist. This is why women like diamonds so much, especially engagement rings. However, to keep the diamond shiny forever, it needs proper care and maintenance.

So how to keep the diamond in its best condition? Here are some tips to keep the diamond sparkling.

Handle diamonds carefully

Want to give yourself more time between cleanings? Although you can clean the ring at most once a week, using these tips, you may be able to clean it once a month!

  • When baking, bathing, and cleaning, remove the diamond engagement ring.

  •  Do not let any chemicals, lotions or sunscreen come into contact with the diamond ring.

  • Keep your ring away from dust, sand and other potential abrasives.

  • When doing sports and gardening, please remove the ring.

  • Store your diamond engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces and diamond jewellery in your own special place.

Clean diamonds regularly

A simple plan to keep diamond jewellery beautiful is to soak it in a mild degreasing solution, such as water and a few drops of mild dish soap, every week. After removing the diamond from the cleaning solution, use a soft, clean toothbrush to remove residual dust. The toothbrush should be new and dedicated to cleaning jewellery. Use it to clean hard-to-reach places, such as the back of a diamond, which tends to collect the most oil and dirt.

What not to use when cleaning a diamond

When cleaning diamond jewellery, never use chlorine bleach or abrasives (such as household cleaners or toothpaste). Chemicals such as chlorine can damage some metals used to use gold for diamond setting, while abrasives can scratch gold and other metals.

Don't use ultrasonic jewellery cleaners at home

Ultrasonic jewellery cleaners can indeed produce sparkling effects, and the working principle of the machine is to transmit vibrations through water and cleaning fluid within a few minutes. All these strenuous movements can cause the stones to become loose or even fall into the machine. And, although a professional jeweller can test whether the gem is intact (and fix it on the spot), you will never know at home which of the pavé gems has loosened in the machine unless it falls. The way out, in this case, you (hope your ring is insured) must go to the jeweller anyway.

The key to the sparkle of a diamond is its facets-like a series of many tiny mirrors, they reflect light in and out of the diamond. Regular cleaning of the cut surface will make your diamond sparkle and keep your diamond jewellery in a sparkling state, ready for the next special occasion.
